General Information:
Experience the natural beauty of the Volunteer Gap Inn and Cabins and surrounding areas. Prepare yourself for the opportunity to quilt, learn new techniques, talk, laugh and just spend time with wonderful quilters just like you. Great rooms, great views, catered food and best of all – no interruptions!
Projects:
It’s a Mystery!
Arrive Thursday afternoon, we’ll have show and tell and time to sew, sew, sew!
Friday: We start the mystery project at 9am. It’s in “the Barn with the rotary cutter Mrs. Peacock”. That’s right it’s a mystery! No need to worry about skill level, you have an awesome instructor. What’s the project name? It’s a mystery!
Saturday: Continue working on the mystery quilt and/or other projects
Sunday: Continue working on the mystery quilt and/or other projects. Depart in the late afternoon after our group picture.
Note: throughout the retreat, I will be showing you demos and make and takes.
Kits:
A supply list will be sent via email one month prior to retreat.
If you would like us to pick out your fabrics, Mystery kits will be available for purchase one month prior to retreat. Pricing will be determined by project.
You may bring extra projects to sew on in between or leave it up to us to show you other projects.

A $150 non-refundable deposit is due at registration.
Pricing for the retreat is as follows:
- Shared Room and Bed: $350 per person
- Shared Room / own bed: $425 per person
- Shared Cabin / own bed: $450 per person
- Private room in the inn: $450 per person
- Private Cabin: $500 per person
Pricing includes meals and lodging.
Lodging:
Lodging is included in the retreat fee.
Nestled between mile post 193 and 194 just 7 miles northeast of Fancy Gap, VA on the Blue Ridge Parkway, you will find Volunteer Gap Inn and Cabins. It’s a beautiful 7 room Inn, with 5 Rustic country cabins sitting on 7 acres with 2 large stocked ponds. Inn rooms feature whirlpool tubs, kitchenettes and homespun décor, with a great view from your rocking chair on the covered porches. Contact Deena McKinney for pricing information. Most rooms have King sized beds for those who don’t mind sharing the bed.

Meals:
All Meals are served in the barn. Wake up each morning to a Continental breakfast. Lunches and dinners are catered by La’Teah Santucci. Meals are Southern Style. Wait till you taste the traditional Sinister Sunday cake!
La’Teah will work with dietary needs, please advise of any dietary needs at registration.
You may choose to bring snacks for your room. Each room has a small kitchen.
Barn:
We’ll be sewing in the barn. Upon arrival unload your sewing items. The barn will be ready with tables and chairs at 11am on Thursday. Please, no early birds. Two attendees will share a 6 foot table, with plenty of room for your sewing supplies. Once unloaded, you may leave your items there till we leave on Sunday.
The barn has two large ironing boards, two irons, 3 design walls, and a small refrigerator for extra snacks. The barn is in walking distance to your room for bathroom breaks. Deena also rents a port-a-potty for our events.

Check in is any time on Thursday. You may even want to come up on Wednesday night. Depart after lunch on Sunday. No need to rush.
