Video Transcriptions

I’ve been playing around with a couple of new ideas for our videos and realized we’re not taking full advantage of our transcriptions. If you don’t already know, we have transcriptions of all our videos (free and premium). You can see them by clicking the “Click Here To Read The Transcript” link at the bottom of each video.

By the way, our transcriptions are completed by Glory J. – a transcriber I found on Since I’m such a mediocre typist, I struggled with transcribing since it took so much of my time. I finally realized I needed to outsource this task or it would never get done!

Our videos are hosted on YouTube and they have a option to upload a transcript so that viewers can read along while watching the video. This is obviously very helpful to the deaf or hard of hearing. My past experience with these automated systems is the syncing of the transcription to the video is WAY off and not useable. However, YouTube has dramatically improved this feature. I uploaded the transcript for our Top 5 Quilting Tools video and the result is amazing!

Check it out and let me know what you think. You can click on the cc button on the bottom right of the video to toggle the transcription on/off. It’s on by default. I’m going to add all of our transcriptions in this way.

Video 25: Machine Appliqué Using Fusible Interfacing

Note: This is a members-only video. To learn more about becoming an Overall Quilter Member, please go to our Membership Information page.

Using fusible interfacing allows you to have a finished edge with-out having to use a needle turn technique.

Trace your pattern on the flat side of the interfacing, sew it to the right side of the fabric, T cut in the center of the interfacing and turn it right side out. You are now ready to fuse it to your background. Choose your favorite machine stitch or hand stitch using a button hole stitch.

New Look

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been changing up the site a little. I’ve updated the software (WordPress) and have been tweaking the custom theme I installed. I still need to work on some of the colors, fonts, etc. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
