Welcome to Matthews, NC where every year during Labor Day Weekend there has been a quilt show inside the community center. Megan Shein is the organizer whose vision 10 years ago was to showcase quilts from local quilters. In her own words “My vision was a show where quilters of all levels could share their quilts , educate the public about our art and inspire others. It is not a formal group or guild, just local quilters with a passion for the art!”
Last year over 2,000 people came through the quilt show.
Although she hands out 3 ribbons for viewers choice, there are no judges, no stressing, just inspiration from the locals who’s ages range from 8 to mid 90s. Last year the show grew to one more room … over 60 quilts now fill 3 classrooms in the community center. One room is filled with red, white and blue quilts to celebrate our great country.
