The Matthews Alive! Festival is a Labor Day weekend celebration dedicated to the support of local non-profit organizations through music, arts and community involvement. This year’s festival occurs from September 4-7, 2009.
From Megan Shein:
The Matthews Alive Quilt display started as a vision over 7 years ago. I was new to quilting and was quite passionate about this art. At that time, the Matthews Community Center was looking for events to draw the public in to see their beautiful building. I approached Matthews Alive and asked if it was possible to incorporate a quilt display that would showcase quilters of all different levels and hopefully inspire new people to try this craft/art. This show is not a judged show, however the public does get to put in for their Viewer’s Choice and a ribbon is awarded to the top 3 Viewer’s Choice winners. We have had quilters from as young as 7 years old to over 90 years old. Each year it awes the public. This show would not be possible without the numerous volunteers it takes to put it on. I thank each and everyone of you in advance for your faithful support of this endearing show!
