Medallion Quilt Along

July 7, 2009 by Marc · Leave a Comment

Date: Beginning July 11, 2009
Time: 9:30am – 10:30am
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Instructor: Ruth Biehl
Fee: $20 initial payment – one time only if you don’t miss any sessions. If you miss one session, $10 will get you back on the project.

Description: Join us for our quilt-along project. This is an opportunity for you to make a quilt of your own design. Start with a center block of your choice. Each month we will add another round. Our instructors will help you to make decisions along the way and be there to help you with the “technical stuff”. At the end of 6 months you will have a unique quilt of your own design.

Since you will be designing the quilt as you go, it is difficult to start with exact fabric requirements. But we suggest starting with 3 yards of a background fabric and 2 yards of a focus fabric. You may want to add 5 to 6 additional fabrics. You can choose those additional fabrics at the beginning of the project or add them as we go along.

Begin by collecting ideas from books and magazines. Begin thinking about your center block (12 to 15 inches) but you don’t have to make a decision until after the first session.

Come to the first session with a notebook and pencil and any resources (books, magazines, photos) you have collected.

We offer a 20% off fabrics for use in this project.

Description: Your fabric, my block; my fabric, your block. What a combination! This is a block exchange where everyone chooses a favorite block and makes that block for everyone in the group using their favorite fabric. When you’re finished you will have enough blocks to make an entire quilt. It takes a village of quilters to make a quilt.
